Mewtwo GX comes from Hidden Fates, a popular English Sun and Moon era special set. This is card number 31 out of a set numbered to 68, placing it within the main run of the expansion. As a GX card, Mewtwo GX uses the Sun and Moon era mechanic that gave Pokemon a powerful once per game GX attack, with the trade off of handing the opponent two prize cards if the Pokemon is knocked out.
Mewtwo is one of the most iconic Pokemon in the entire franchise, and its appearances in the card game are always met with strong collector demand. Hidden Fates itself is a fondly remembered set, known for its compact size and its many sought after cards. A Mewtwo GX from this expansion combines the lasting appeal of the Pokemon with the nostalgia of one of the era's most collected releases. Collectors value this card both for the character and for its place in a set that has held its reputation well over the years.
