This is Alakazam ex from the 151 set, the release that revisits the original Kanto roster of 151 Pokemon. Alakazam has been a fan favourite since the very first generation, known for its high intelligence and its place in the Abra evolution line, so its appearance in the 151 set drew plenty of attention.
This card is an Ultra Rare ex, which gives Alakazam the full art ex treatment with bold artwork and a premium finish. As an ex card it represents a powerful Pokemon in play, with strong attacks balanced by the extra prize an opponent gains when it is knocked out. The card number 188/165 runs above the set's main numbering of 165, which marks it as a card found beyond the regular set list.
Collectors look for Alakazam ex because it brings together a classic Kanto Pokemon and the popular 151 set, which has remained one of the most collected releases of recent years. It sits well in any Kanto themed collection.
